Posted 28 May 2009
More than 200
vehicles and pieces of equipment will be sold by the Iowa Department of
Transportation (DOT) at an auction Saturday, May 30, beginning at 9
a.m.
Photos of some of the items up for auction have been posted on the Iowa
DOT’s Web site, www.iowadot.gov/auction. A more complete listing of
items can also be found on this site, along with a form to request a
paper copy of the auction handbill.
The sale will be held at the auction lot at South Fourth Street and Oak
Avenue in Ames. Vehicles and equipment to be sold are from the DOT,
University of Iowa, Iowa State University, cities, and counties.
Included in the sale are approximately 46 cars, 43 pickups, 25 vans, 18
trucks, four Chevrolet Suburbans, one International semi tractor, one
Ford semi tractor, assorted wheel loaders, and other pieces of
equipment.
The cars to be sold include Ford Taurus sedans and station wagons, Ford
Focus sedans and Chevrolet Cavalier and Cobalt sedans.
Vans that will be auctioned include Dodge Grand Caravans, Chevrolet
Ventures and other Ford, GMC and Chevrolet mini-vans, and two
12-passenger vans.
Pickups to be sold include Chevrolet C1500s, Silverados and Colorados,
Dodge Dakotas and Rams, Ford F350s, and many others.
The trucks include several International 4900 tandem trucks and Ford
LN8000 trucks.
Other equipment includes changeable message signs, mowers, funnel
plows, hydraulic reversible plows, transmissions, tires and much more.
The auction items may be inspected at the sale site from 8 a.m. to 4
p.m. May 29 and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. May 30. All vehicles and other
items are sold “as is” with no warranties or guarantees. When needed,
“in transit” paper licenses will be furnished by the DOT after final
settlement has been made. Bidders must be 18 years of age or older.
Bidders will be assigned a permanent bid number that must be displayed
when purchasing an item. If you already have a permanent bid number,
you should bring that number with you.
Each successful bidder must furnish a $200 deposit for each vehicle
that is not paid for in full on the day of the sale. Payment can be
made with cash, personal or company check, traveler's check, postal
money order, cashier's check, or bank draft. The DOT reserves the right
to request certified funds. Political subdivisions can use requisitions
or purchase orders.
Buyers are encouraged to make final settlements on the day of the sale.
Final payments must be made no later than 3 p.m. June 5.
Lynch Auction Company, Boone, will conduct the sale. Coffee, sandwiches
and cold drinks will be available at the auction site.
